Professional Experience

Present           Chairperson of the business administration department

1990-present Birzeit University. Assistant Professor. Taught several courses at the MBA level and the Business Administration Department, such as Strategic Management, Research seminars, Fundamentals of Marketing, Marketing Research, Human Resource Management, Organisational Theory and Behaviour, Principles of Management and Introduction to Business Administration . Achieved an excellent score on students’ evaluation in all courses.  In addition to supervising MBA dissertations in the area of job satisfaction, leadership, organizational restructuring, change management, program evaluations at local NGO’s and work/life balance.

1995-present  Taybeh Brewing Company. Marketing Director. Family Business. Responsible for all marketing issues and relationship marketing management including products, prices, distribution, promotion management and customer education.

1987-1990  Part time instructor at Birzeit University, Business Administration      Department.

1988-1989    Substitute Chief of Personnel. Public Health Division, Ramallah, Palestine. Responsible for all human resource matters and strategies for 555 employees including doctors, nurses and other administrative staff. Activities included staffing, planning, selection, training, compensation, performance appraisal etc.

1985-1987   Liquor Store Manager. Foleys Liquor. Brookline,Mass. U.S.A. Responsible for planning, purchasing, sales, organising and controlling employees and operations.

1980-1985   Part time Sales Manager , Oasis Travel Agency, Ramallah, Palestine. Developed a family business through being responsible for all sales matters.

Activities& Achievements

 *   Conducted several public lectures, workshops and short training courses at Birzeit University and other institutions including the Palestinian Ministries (such as the finance, commerce ministries and Palestinian Legislative Council staff members in Gaza and Ramallah and The Public Relations Officers at the Palestinian General Security System - Communication Skills in 1999) in the area of human resource management, career planning, leadership, communication skills, management functions and motivation. Written five marketing case studies taught to students at Birzeit University.

*   Established and directed a training and a career advisory unit at the College of Commerce and Economics in Birzeit University. Organised and implemented Eight on campus Career Days in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003 for commerce students and other departments at the university. Prepared (4) brochures about resume preparation, job interviews and filling application forms.

       *   Conducted research papers in the area of marketing and human resource management and published several articles in local newspapers and international journals. Supervised MBA students and senior level students in seminar and market research projects.

A pilot study about “The Effectiveness of Managing Faculty Members Performance Appraisal Process at Birzeit University”. Presented the paper in the “ Human Resource Development- Practices and Practitioners- Beyond the Year 2000” Conference held at the DPPC Bradford University. 27-28 May 1999.
