
Born in 1934 in Arghabah, a small village near Al-Riad, the capital of Saudi Arabia, Abdul-Rahman's father died when he was two years old. Raised by his grand mother until eight years of age, he moved to live with his uncle in Al-Riad, where he joined the first elementary school in the city. Five years later, at the age of fourteen, he left school to work because of the family's bad economic situation.
In 1958, Al-Sheikh Abdul Rahman established the "Beit Al-Riad " institution in the Al-Riad, which has become the biggest Middle Eastern institution dealing in office appliances, including computers, furniture and other equipment. Throughout the years, he developed his business substantially, steadily increasing the amount of his capital. Today, he is the owner of many commercial institutions and chairman and member of many social organisations.
