There are about 90 students in the Economics Department. In the last two years it was noticed that the number of students tripled, due to the increase in the number of faculty members, increasing interest in this field of study, and successful development of the department over the last two years.

About 15 to 20 students graduate from the department each year, a result of the university's high standards. Graduates of Birzeit University are successful after graduation, finding jobs in the private sector - especially banking - as well as the public sector. After the Palestinian National Authority took responsibility for the West Bank and Gaza, many graduates secured jobs in govermental institutions. Some of the students also find places for them in the university as well as teaching assistants and also in the finance department in the university.

The economics students are very active. They participate in many activities in the university and outside. They also have a student Economic Club.
