INTRODUCTION

The Faculty of Engineering at Birzeit University in Palestine and the Department of Land Use and Landscape Planning at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, in partnership with other Palestinian and foreign institutions, are planning to organize in the autumn of the year 2007 an International Conference entitled “The Conservation and Management of Landscape in Conflict Zones”. This conference comes within the framework of the cooperation project between both institutions aiming to enhancing “ Capacity Building and Regional Cooperation in the Field of Landscape Architecture and Planning” in Palestine.

The proposed conference shall cover different issues pertaining to landscape, including research-based issues. Yet, topics related to practical and/or pedagogical issues shall be welcomed. This opportunity will allow Palestinian landscapers and researchers to meet with their colleagues from different parts of the world, to exchange knowledge and experience and to explore possible future developments in the field of landscape, especially in a conflict area such as the Palestinian territories.

That’s why the conference will be open for international participation, hosting expertise and researchers in the field of landscape architecture and planning.
