The Masters Program in International Studies
The MA program in International Studies is valuable for those who are interested in addressing Palestine’s evolving relationship with the international system from both theoretical and practical standpoints. Students' individual perspectives are thus improved, and through them, those of the nations they are serving.
Acquired knowledge and skills enable these individuals (who as of early 2005 number close to 340, between alumni and currently enrolled students) to pursue careers with a deeper understanding, and greater mastery of their working environment. Additionally, graduates of the program are competitive candidates for Ph.D. programs in a range of fields at universities abroad.
The foremost scholars in the field living in Palestine teach in the IALIIS; this is one of the reasons why demand for admission to the Master’s program in international studies always far exceeds the number of places available.
This program is composed of 36 credit hours, leading to the MA in International Studies, from Birzeit University. It generally takes the students, most of whom are employed and therefore unable to follow a full time course of study, between a year and a half and two years to complete the degree. |
