Municipal waste management entails domestic, commercial and industrial solid waste as well as the liquid waste streams from commercial and industrial enterprises. Waste management sector is very weak and has several deficiencies. The present outcome is uncontrolled disposal, wild unconfined dumpsites, burning and unsafe collection and haulage. The short and long-term impacts are still unknown. Thus, the following research topics are within our research theme:

·        Development of innovative solutions for waste treatment, reuse and recycling

·        Application of cleaner production for pollution minimization and prevention

·        Environmental impact assessment of and risk analysis of industrial processes

·        Physical, chemical and biological pretreatment of industrial discharges
