Palestine is one of the countries where water resources are of limited access as of political reasons. The quality of water resources (ground and surface waters) is experiencing an annual deterioration as of many reasons. At present, groundwater is the only one major water source for all civic life activities in Palestine. Knowing the fact that water is not reproducible underlines crucial research areas in the field of environmental water quality and water treatment, these are:
· Development of new chemical and biological methods for water and wastewater analysis
· Process performance monitoring and upgrading of water treatment plants including process modification and optimization
· Stormwater management including characterization, treatment and utilization
· Development of low-cost treatment technologies including physical, chemical and biological techniques
