Head of Collection Department Dept. Taghreed Shihadeh and Mr. Jamal Sohweil have participated in the Cairo International Bookfair which was held in Cairo-Egypt between 25-31/1/2008 to purchase books in Arabic.

Training Sessions Attended by Library Staff

Library Director, Asad Tom, Mahmoud Murrar and Kamal Hamdan from computer center have attended an advance course in Minisis and its applications between 16-29/06/2007 which was held at minisis inc company in Tunisia.

Head of Cataloging Mrs. Suhaila Abu Ghdeib has participated in a training in USA organized by American Overseas Research Centers(CAORC) in Chicago, from 15-24 of April 2008, the training was about the electronic resources and databases related to Classification and Cataloging.

Library Director, Head of Users' Services Department, Head of Collection Development have joined an Academic Librarians Workshop entitled: "Reading and Technology in the Service of Everyone" which was held in Bethlehem University on April the 10th 2008.
Library Director has given a presentation on: "Promoting, Managing, and Marketing E-resources in Higher Education Institutions"

25 staff from the library have attended few sessions in the International conference on Libraries entitled "Libraries from Human Rights Perspective" which was held between 31/3-2/4/2008

Mahmoud Murrar attended a 15 hours course titled "Introduction to Web Publishing " which was held in the university campus between 27/02/2008 to 12/03/2008.

Library Director and Suhaila AbuGdeib have attended a 40 hours Excel 2003 course (Introductory and Advanced) which was held at the Continuing Education Center- Birzeit University between 6-12-2007 and 13-3-2008

Saadeh Saadeh has attended a 20 hours training course on Excel 2003 which was held at the Continuing Education Center- Birzeit University between 6-12-2007 and 26-1-2008

Wednesday 28/5/2008 A delegate from British Council has visited the library to discuss the future cooperation between the two parties.

Ms. Claudia Lux/ President of IFLA and her delegation from FAIFEE section-IFLA Paul Sturges, Stuart Hamilton, Frode Bakken and the president of the Norwegian Library Association Ms. Anne Husted have visited the
Main Library with international and local librarians and were introduced to the major library services and activities especially the e-resources. The presentation was offered by Mr.
Labib Eid/ Head of Information Services Department.

Tuesday 11-3-2008:
The Vice-President of the Government of the French Community and Minister of International Relations of Belgium, Ms. Marie-Dominique Simonet accompanied by the Belgian Consul General in Jerusalem, Mr. Leo Peeters, Director of Cabinet, Mr. Michael Weber and other officials, and Ms. Leila Shahid, Palestinian Ambassador in Belgium and the envoy of the Palestinian Authority (PA) to the European Commission in Brussels visited the library and were introduced by the Library Director and Head of Users' Services Department to the major library services and activities esp. in regard to Online Resources.
- Wednesday, 27/2/2008: Library Director, Head of Collection Development, AbdelMunim, and Nisreen have paid a visit to the Polytechnic University in Hebron to start the Gift and exchange program, as well as a visit to Dandees Bookstore to check the possible cooperation in the future..
