About Mathematics Department
- Mathematics Dept. at BZU
is as old as the university itself. Math Dept. plays a fundamental role in almost every
colleges in Birzeit University, especially to science, engineering and commerce students.
- As a matter of fact, to
those the department offers service courses amounting to over sixty percent of its
academic load in terms of credit hours in any given semester.
- In 1994, the Department of
Mathematics had become the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science since it
introduce the Computer Science program, then the department of Computer Science was born
in Jan 1999.
- In Addition to that, the department offers a strong program leading to a
first degree in Mathematics and
Mathematics applied to Economics along several tracks.
- Graduates
of that program find jobs in teaching Mathematics at the local high schools or
at local companies, or going abroad to pursue the graduate studies.
- Mathematics Dept. is
continuing to develop itself, So it introduced a new tracks as Minor in Statistics, Mathematical Economics which are very
important tracks in satisfying our community needs, more over it developed the programs
which are leading to B.Sc. in Mathematics & Mathematical Economics.
- This service has been put
together with the hope that it will introduce the department(Staff, Programs, Courses offering, ..etc) to the prospective student,
the visitor and anybody or institution that has an interest to know.
