The IT Center of Excellence delivers "Entrepreneurship" training to students of Palestine Technical University in the city of Toulkarem. In cooperation with the Palestinian National Committee for Summer Camps, the IT Center of Excellence launches a technology summer camp prgoram of 13 summer camps to be conducted in 11 Palestinian governorates. Google UAE and the Najjad Zeenni IT Center of Excellence launched a joint initiative that will serve to increase the breadth of quality Arabic content on the internet. The latest statistics from Google indicate that the size of the Arabic content on the internet does not exceed 1 - 2 % when compared to the size of online content in English. Through the inititiative, volunteer BZU students are to translate pre-selected Wikipedia articles into Arabic and publish them online. The articles to be translated are among the most widely searched articles throughout the Middle East that were previously unavailable in the Arabic language.More than 100 voluntary students from Birzeit University belonging to different department and colleges have joined the initiative. As part of its ongoing Student Technology Excellence Program (STEP), Najjad Zenni Information Technology Center of Excellence launched a month and a half-long technology summer camp that targeted Palestinian school students aged between 13 and 17.
The camp's program was designed to increase the students' interest in the fields of information technology and engineering while having fun at the same time, in an environment free from the pressures of a typical classroom. STEP's curriculum focuses on robotics building and programming, open-source literacy, and project-based learning and team work. Read Full Article

A team of youngsters (aged between 13 and 17) represented Palestine in the global robotics competition held in Jordan. "Alternative Sources of Energy" was the focus theme for the competition. The Palestinian team programmed and prototyped a fully-functional robot that can harness energy from non-conventional sources. Read Full Article
