"Birzeit University, the oldest Palestinian university, seeks excellence in its attempt to impart and broaden knowledge relevant to the legacy of human beings. This mission is reinforced by its concern to play a leading role in the development of Palestinian society, which is contingent to a large extent, on the magnitude to which Palestinians are able to interact with the international community. The Palestine and Arabic Studies (PAS) program, offered by the University for the past several years, is an outcome of this commitment.

The PAS program is an invitation to international students and scholars interested in aquiring the language skills and knowledge which would enable them, not only to gain an understanding and appreciation of the indigenous culture, but also to interact with Palestinian students who will be exposed to the various cultures international students bring with them. It is our hope that this Program will play a modest but significant role in the development of international understanding and peace.

We think that international students willl find their tenure at Birzeit University academically challenging, socially enjoyable and personally rewarding. We look forward to hearing from them and hope to have the opportunity to welcome them at Birzeit."
